A rural county north of Gwangju, Damyang is renowned for its Juknokwon bamboo grove — a densely planted forest of tall Moso bamboo where light filters through tightly spaced culms and the sound of rustling canes creates a distinctive atmosphere. The adjacent Metasequoia-lined boulevard, a long avenue of dawn redwood trees arching over a country road, provides a contrasting landscape subject in each season.
