South Korea's first designated national park and one of its largest, Jirisan straddles the boundaries of three provinces along the main ridge of the Sobaek Mountains. The park's highest peak, Cheonwangbong at 1,915 metres, is connected by a demanding multi-day ridge trail and framed by deep valleys that shelter important Buddhist monasteries including Hwaeomsa. Diverse temperate forest supports an unusual density of wildflowers.
