A 90-kilometer mountain transit route crossing the Northern Japan Alps through a combination of cable car, ropeway, trolleybus, and highland buses, connecting Toyama Prefecture on the Sea of Japan side to Nagano Prefecture. When the route opens each April following winter clearing, walls of snow up to 20 meters tall line the road at Yuki no Otani between Murodo and Daikanbou, creating a corridor accessible to visitors. Murodo plateau at 2,450 meters is the route's highest point and a trailhead for Tateyama summit.
