A 70-kilometer expressway corridor connecting Honshu and Shikoku across a chain of islands in the Seto Inland Sea via six suspension and cable-stayed bridges, with a dedicated cycling and pedestrian path running its entire length. The route passes through the islands of Oshima, Hakata, Omishima, Ikuchijima, and Innoshima, each with distinct character, from active fishing communities to citrus orchards and historic shrines. The cycling path is considered one of the most scenic in East Asia.
