The Baltoro Glacier is one of the longest glaciers outside the polar regions, extending approximately 63 kilometres through the heart of the Karakoram range and serving as the approach route to the world's second-highest mountain, K2. The glacier's ablation zone is a chaotic landscape of seracs, moraines, and glacial pools, with the Trango Towers, Masherbrum, and the Gasherbrum group lining the valley walls. The confluences at Concordia, where multiple major glaciers meet beneath a ring of 8,000-metre peaks, is one of the most dramatic high-mountain amphitheatres on earth.
