Bandipur is a hilltop Newari market town perched at 1,030 metres on a ridge above the Marsyangdi River valley in central Nepal. The town's main street retains intact 18th- and 19th-century Newari mercantile architecture, including carved wooden lattice windows and tiered-roof temples, earning it a heritage conservation designation. The view north from the Tundikhel parade ground encompasses a broad sweep of the Himalaya including the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. The town is largely vehicle-free and accessible by a short walk up from the highway.
