Ama Dablam is a peak of 6,812 metres in the Khumbu Himalaya, widely considered one of the most aesthetically striking mountains in the world due to its distinctive twin ridges and hanging glacier. The mountain is visible from the Everest trail between Namche Bazaar and Tengboche and dominates many classic Khumbu landscape photographs. The south-west ridge is a technical mountaineering route attempted by experienced climbers. The Nepali name translates loosely as 'mother's necklace', referring to the hanging glacier resembling a pendant.
