The Nine Arch Bridge is a colonial-era railway viaduct near Ella in Sri Lanka's Uva Province, built in 1921 without structural steel — the wartime shortage requiring an all-brick and concrete construction. Its nine arches span a forested ravine along the Demodara loop, and the bridge is most photographed when the blue diesel trains of the Colombo-Badulla line cross it against a backdrop of tea-covered hills. The approach trail from Ella or Demodara station takes roughly 20 minutes on foot through mixed forest.
