Ella is a small highland town in Sri Lanka's Uva Province at approximately 1,041 metres, set in the tea country of the central highlands where ridgelines drop steeply toward the southern lowlands. The Ella Gap — a natural pass in the ridge — frames a long view toward the distant southern coast on clear days, and is the town's signature viewpoint. The surrounding tea estate landscape, particularly visible from Little Adam's Peak and the trail to Ella Rock, rewards both casual walkers and photography.
