Nagarhole National Park, formally known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, lies in the Mysore Plateau at the southern edge of the Western Ghats and forms part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve alongside Bandipur and Wayanad. The park's deciduous and semi-evergreen forests support one of the highest densities of tigers and Asian elephants in India, along with leopards, wild dogs, gaur, and a significant bird list. Kabini reservoir on the park's eastern boundary provides boat-based wildlife viewing against a forest backdrop.
