Wayanad is a highland district in northeastern Kerala where forested hills, coffee and tea estates, and tribal village communities coexist at elevations between 700 and 2,100 metres. The Chembra Peak trail offers one of the best-known trekking routes in the Western Ghats, while Edakkal Caves preserve Neolithic rock engravings among the oldest pictorial records found on the subcontinent. Morning fog settles in the valleys between November and February, creating atmospheric conditions for landscape photography.
