Chopta is a small high-altitude meadow at approximately 2,680 metres in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, often described as a miniature Switzerland for its lush alpine pastures, oak and rhododendron forests, and unobstructed views of Kedarnath, Tungnath, and Chandrashila peaks. The 3.5-kilometre trail from Chopta to Tungnath, the world's highest Shiva temple at 3,680 metres, continues to Chandrashila summit for a 360-degree Himalayan panorama. The area remains largely undeveloped and uncrowded compared to other Uttarakhand destinations.
