Mussoorie is a hill station at 2,000 metres on the Mussoorie Range of the Garhwal Himalayan foothills, overlooking the Doon Valley and offering clear-weather views of the high Himalayan peaks to the north. Established as a British summer resort in the nineteenth century, it retains Victorian-era buildings, churches, and a promenade-style Mall Road lined with shops and hotels. Kempty Falls, a staged waterfall about 15 kilometres from the town centre, is among the most visited natural attractions in the area.
