Jim Corbett National Park, established in 1936 as India's first national park, covers roughly 520 square kilometres of riverine forest, grassland, and hilly terrain in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The park is best known as a stronghold of the Bengal tiger and is one of the better places in India to observe tigers in a relatively undisturbed forest ecosystem. The Ramganga River runs through the core zone, and elephant safari and jeep zones offer different perspectives on the park's varying habitats.
