The third-largest granitic island in the Seychelles, Silhouette rises to Mont Dauban at 740 metres and remains largely undeveloped, with dense native forest covering most of its area. The island's isolation has allowed it to retain endemic plant and animal species that have been lost from more developed islands, including the critically endangered jellyfish tree. One small resort provides the island's only accommodation, accessible by helicopter or boat from Mahé.
