Damaraland is a vast semi-arid wilderness in northwestern Namibia characterised by ancient petrified dunes, volcanic landscapes, and granite massifs. The region is home to desert-adapted populations of elephant and black rhinoceros that traverse the dry riverbeds connecting the Namib and the interior plateau. Brandberg Mountain, Namibia's highest peak at 2,573 metres, lies within Damaraland and shelters the White Lady rock painting — an ancient San depiction found in the Tsisab Ravine.
