A sheltered cove near Simon's Town on the Cape Peninsula, Boulders Beach is home to a resident colony of African penguins that haul out on its granitic rocks and white sand. Wooden boardwalks allow close observation without disturbing the breeding areas. The calm, enclosed bay is also one of the safest swimming spots on the cold Atlantic side of the peninsula.
