Kibale National Park protects the largest remaining block of forest in Uganda and contains Africa's highest density of primates — 13 species including chimpanzees habituated for daily tracking, red colobus, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and L'Hoest's monkeys. The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary on the park's eastern boundary is managed by the local community and offers an accessible and affordable birding walk with high species diversity. Trails through the forest interior connect Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Kyambura corridor.
