Watamu is a small coastal town north of Malindi whose shoreline forms part of the Watamu Marine National Park, a Biosphere Reserve protecting an extensive coral garden and some of Kenya's most accessible sea turtle nesting beaches. Three interconnected bays of white sand are sheltered by a natural coral breakwater, producing calm, shallow water suited to snorkelling at low tide. Whale sharks visit the waters seasonally between October and March.
