Diani is a 17-kilometre ribbon of white coral sand backed by indigenous coastal forest on Kenya's south coast, separated from the mainland by Likoni channel and the Shimba Hills hinterland. The Indian Ocean water is warm year-round, with a shallow reef close to shore offering snorkelling and kite-surfing. Colobus monkeys are frequently seen in the forest canopy along the beach road, and several marine national reserves protect the adjacent coral ecosystem.
