Tsavo West's varied terrain encompasses savanna, volcanic hills, swamps, and the spectacular Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear water bubbles up through ancient lava rock at a rate of 50 million litres per day, sustaining hippos and crocodiles that can be viewed through an underwater observation chamber. The park borders Kilimanjaro and offers striking views of the peak from open ridgelines. Black rhinos survive in a protected sanctuary within the park boundaries.
