Hell's Gate is one of the few Kenyan parks where visitors may walk or cycle unaccompanied among wildlife, traversing a dramatic gorge carved by geothermal activity and ancient volcanic flows. Towering red-rock cliffs named Fischer's Tower and Central Tower define the landscape and provide nesting sites for lammergeiers and augur buzzards. The park's geothermal fields supply energy to the national grid and add a surreal, steam-vented quality to the terrain.
