The easternmost point of the Arabian Peninsula, Ras al-Jinz is one of the most important nesting sites for green sea turtles in the Indian Ocean, with hundreds of turtles arriving on its beaches to lay eggs between June and October. A dedicated scientific reserve operates night-time guided visits allowing observers to witness nesting turtles from close range without disturbing them. The headland's rocky intertidal platforms are rich with marine biodiversity and the offshore waters attract schools of dolphins.
