Also known as the Sharqiyah Sands, this sea of parallel dune ridges stretches roughly 180 kilometres from north to south across eastern Oman. The dunes exhibit a striking colour gradient — pale gold in the north darkening to deep orange-red in the south — and rise to heights of over 100 metres. The area retains a small population of Bedouin communities maintaining traditional camel-herding practices, and the dune crests offer unobstructed views at sunrise and sunset.
