A trekking village at roughly 1,740 metres in the High Atlas mountains, situated at the foot of Jebel Toubkal — the highest peak in North Africa. The village is the standard starting point for ascents of Toubkal and for multi-day traverses of the Atlas range. Terraced barley fields, walnut trees, and traditional Berber stone houses characterise the immediate surroundings. Mule trains loaded with trekking supplies are a common sight on the stone-paved paths leading out of town.
