The highest peak in North Africa at 4,167 metres, located in the High Atlas range south of Marrakesh and reachable from the village of Imlil by a two-day ascent that requires no technical climbing equipment in summer. The route passes through Berber villages, alpine pastures, and boulder fields before reaching the summit refuge below the final rocky scramble. Summit views on clear days extend south toward the Sahara and north across successive Atlas ridges. Winter ascents require crampons and ice axe due to persistent snow cover.
