A Mediterranean port city at the foot of the Taurus Mountains, Antalya combines a well-preserved Roman-era old town — the Kaleiçi district of Ottoman houses, Hadrian's Gate, and a yacht-filled harbor — with access to some of Turkey's most visited beaches. The Düden Waterfalls descend directly into the sea a few kilometers east of the city center, providing an unusual coastal waterfall landscape. The Archaeological Museum of Antalya houses one of Turkey's finest collections of Roman-era statuary and sarcophagi recovered from nearby Perge and Aspendos.
