Macocha Abyss is the deepest open doline in Central Europe, plunging 138 metres through the limestone plateau of the Moravian Karst. Two viewing platforms at the rim look straight down to twin turquoise lakes at the bottom, where the Punkva River resurfaces after its underground course. Early morning light creates shifting shadows across the mossy walls, making the abyss a compelling photographic subject.
