Vaduz is the capital of Liechtenstein, a small city of approximately 5,500 residents beneath Vaduz Castle, which remains the residence of the reigning Prince. The castle is visible from the town centre but not publicly accessible except on the national holiday. The Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and the National Museum are the principal cultural institutions in the pedestrianised centre.
