Sveti Stefan is a fifteenth-century fortified village built on a small rocky islet connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, its clustered stone buildings and towers now forming a private resort. The islet is most visited for its exterior view — the approach from a hillside viewpoint south of Budva provides one of the most reproduced images in Montenegrin tourism. Pink-pebble beaches flank both sides of the causeway on the public section of the shore.
