Triglav National Park covers the bulk of the Julian Alps in Slovenia's northwest corner, centred on Mount Triglav, the country's highest peak at 2,864 metres and its national symbol. The park encompasses glacial valleys, alpine meadows, rushing rivers including the emerald Soča, and high-altitude karst terrain. The Soča Trail follows the river through a series of gorges and pools of vivid turquoise water coloured by glacial mineral content.
