Ayia Napa is a resort town on the southeastern coast of Cyprus whose beaches, particularly Nissi Beach, are renowned for fine white quartz sand and shallow turquoise water. The town's name derives from the medieval monastery of Ayia Napa at its centre, built around a natural grotto and now surrounded by modern development. The Cape Greco national forest park directly southeast of the town offers a natural contrast of sea caves, cliffs, and walking trails along an undeveloped coastline.
