The archaeological site near Kouklia in the Paphos district marks the location of Palaipafos, the ancient city of Old Paphos, whose temple complex dedicated to Aphrodite was one of the most important cult centres in the ancient Greek world and is mentioned in the Iliad. The museum at the adjacent Lusignan manor house displays carved stelae, architectural fragments, and cult objects from excavations at the sanctuary. The site is UNESCO-listed as part of the Paphos archaeological area.
