Ancient Corinth is an archaeological site at the base of the Acrocorinth, the imposing flat-topped rock that served as the city's fortified citadel. The site preserves the seventh-century BCE Temple of Apollo — among the oldest surviving Doric temples in Greece — alongside an extensive Roman-era forum, rostra, and fountain house. The Acrocorinth itself, accessible by road, is enclosed within surviving medieval walls enclosing Byzantine chapels, Frankish towers, and Ottoman fountains, with views extending to the Saronic and Corinthian gulfs.
