Nidri is a resort town on the eastern coast of Lefkada facing a sheltered channel studded with small privately owned islands, including those associated with the estate of the nineteenth-century archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann. The bay's calm conditions make it a well-established sailing base, and the surrounding waters contain waterfalls accessible from the mainland inland from the town. The Lefkada lagoon to the north is a wetland important for migratory birds.
