Paleokastritsa is a coastal resort area on the northwest coast of Corfu built around a series of small bays and headlands draped with dense olive and cypress vegetation. A thirteenth-century monastery sits on a rocky promontory above the main cove, its white walls and orange-roofed church visible from the water below. The clarity of the water in the sheltered bays makes the site popular for snorkelling, while the hillside viewpoints above offer sweeping vistas of the Ionian coast.
