Two kilometres north of Riva del Garda, the Varone waterfall drops 98 metres through a narrow gorge carved into the limestone plateau above. Walkways cut into the cliff walls at multiple levels allow visitors to approach close to the falls, where the fine mist and roaring sound of the confined water create an immersive experience. The gorge is particularly striking in spring when snowmelt increases flow volume substantially.
