Surrounded on all sides by Dolomite peaks, Cortina d'Ampezzo is the principal resort town of the eastern Alps and a host city of the 1956 Winter Olympics. Its pedestrianised Corso Italia is lined with high-end boutiques and cafés, while ski areas such as Tofana, Faloria, and Lagazuoi collectively offer some of the most scenic piste skiing in Europe. Summer hiking and via ferrata routes draw climbers and trail runners.
