The Coves del Drac on the eastern coast of Mallorca near Porto Cristo are a series of four interconnected caverns containing one of the largest underground lakes in the world, Lago Martel, measuring approximately 177 metres in length. The caves were extensively mapped by the French speleologist Édouard Alfred Martel in 1896 and developed for public access in the early 20th century. Visitors tour the illuminated chambers by foot and then observe a short classical music concert performed by musicians on boats gliding across the lake, a theatrical presentation unique to this site.
