Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of continental Europe, a granite headland rising 140 metres above the Atlantic in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park west of Lisbon. The lighthouse, operating continuously since 1772, and the exposed clifftop provide unobstructed sunset views over the open ocean. The cliffs support colonies of nesting seabirds and endemic plant species adapted to the constant salt-laden winds.
