Albarracín is a medieval walled village in Teruel province built on a horseshoe meander of the Guadalaviar River, its honey-pink sandstone buildings stacked up a hillside above terracotta rooftops. The village retains much of its Moorish and medieval Christian street fabric largely unaltered, and the circuit of walls running along the ridge crest offers vertiginous views into the river gorge. It is consistently cited among the most beautiful villages in Spain.
