Spain's only alpine national park lies in the Pyrenean ranges of Lleida province, encompassing over 200 lakes, glacial cirques, and a network of streams threading through boreal forest. The twisted meadows (aigüestortes) around the Sant Maurici lake are the visual centerpiece, with the Encantats twin peaks reflected in the water at dawn. Access by private vehicle is restricted; jeep taxis operate from park gates.
