Frigiliana, set in the foothills of the Sierra de Almijara east of Nerja, is considered one of the best-preserved Moorish villages on the Spanish coast. Its upper barrio, known as the Barribarto, is a labyrinth of steep, flower-lined alleyways with views down to the Mediterranean. The village produces a molasses-like grape syrup that is a local specialty.
