A sheltered sandy bay accessible only on foot via the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Barafundle Bay is enclosed by dunes, wooded clifftops, and a stone arch gateway from the adjacent Stackpole Estate. The absence of road access keeps visitor numbers below those of comparable beaches, and the combination of fine golden sand, clear water, and limestone cliffs gives it a character more often associated with Mediterranean than Welsh coasts. The bay faces south-southwest and receives afternoon light well into the evening in summer.
