A mountain range in south Wales, the Brecon Beacons National Park encompasses open moorland, river valleys, and limestone karst terrain across 1,344 square kilometres. Pen y Fan, at 886 metres the highest peak in south Wales, has a north face carved into a dramatic glacial escarpment whose profile is recognisable from many approaches. The park also contains the UNESCO-listed Blaenavon Industrial Landscape in its southeastern corner, reflecting the region's dual natural and industrial heritage.
