The Dingle Peninsula extends westward from Tralee into the Atlantic Ocean and is one of the westernmost points of Europe, with a landscape of mountain spurs, sandy beaches, and early Christian stone monuments. The Slea Head Drive, a loop around the western tip, passes beehive huts, promontory forts, and views to the Blasket Islands lying a few kilometres offshore. The town of Dingle is a working fishing harbour with a well-documented tradition of dolphin interaction in the bay.
