Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles, reaching 1,345 metres above sea level near Fort William in the western Highlands. The mountain's summit plateau is defined by a vast cliff face on its northern side, while the popular Pony Track ascends from the Glen Nevis car park on a well-graded path. Summit conditions can be severe year-round, with snow persisting in north-facing gullies into summer.
