The largest forest in Denmark, covering roughly 80 square kilometres of hills and spring-fed valleys in central Jutland. The forest shelters some of Denmark's largest red deer herds and is notable for Lille Blåkilde, a cold chalk spring with strikingly blue-tinted water fed by groundwater filtered through limestone. Walking and cycling trails thread through stands of beech, oak, and spruce in an otherwise flat, agricultural country.
