A fjord in Rogaland county extending approximately 42 kilometres inland from the Høgsfjord near Forsand, bounded by granite walls reaching 1,000 metres above the waterline. The fjord is most visited for the two dramatic rock formations accessible from its shores — Preikestolen to the north and the Kjerag boulder to the south — but the fjord itself, traversable by ferry from Stavanger, is an impressive landscape in its own right. Waterfalls drop directly into the fjord along much of its length.
