A fjord on the northwest coast of Spitsbergen, enclosed by glaciers on three sides and considered one of the most scenic anchorages in the Arctic. The remains of blubber ovens and wooden crosses from 17th-century Dutch and English whaling operations are preserved on the small beach at Gravneset, giving the site both natural and historical significance. Cruise ships and expedition vessels frequently anchor here during summer voyages around Svalbard.
